What they weakly predict is movement: a ≥4x spikepreceded a next-day range of ≥1.5x that ticker’s own normal on 33% of occasions, against 14% after flat mentions (2,224 ticker-days; holds with earnings excluded). Below 4x measured no better than flat.
chgshows a percentage only when a ticker has ≥25 mentions today and ≥10 yesterday — a jump from 2 to 41 is “+1950%” and means nothing. Below that it shows the raw change.
The sparkline is a different metric from a different source: daily wallstreetbets comment counts (Tradestie), top ~50 tickers per day, last 30 days. A break in the line means the ticker fell out of that top 50 that day — unknown, not zero.
